Santa Maria Valley’s 6th Annual Craft Cocktail Contest Winners Announced

[SANTA MARIA, CA. April 1, 2025] - The Santa Maria Valley Chamber is excited to announce the winners of the 6th Annual Craft Cocktail Contest, which took place from January 10 to February 9, 2025. This year’s contest showcased an array of talent from the local restaurant and brew scene, highlighting innovative cocktail creations from participating establishments which paired creativity with skill.

After weeks of spirited competition, Judge's Choice was awarded to Huckleberry's Breakfast and Lunch for their cocktail, Gator Juice. 

The People’s Choice award went to Maya Mexican Restaurant for their unique take on the classic Original Michelada. 

The contest featured two distinct awards: the Judge's Choice, determined by a panel of judges who evaluated the cocktails based on taste, presentation and authenticity to restaurant; and the People’s Choice, where community members voted for their favorite craft cocktail by posting photos of their drinks, tagging the business and using the hashtag #SMVCraftCocktail, allowing local flavors to shine through popular demand.

"It’s a true celebration of the creative spirit of our local mixologists and chefs. We congratulate Huckleberry's and Maya Mexican Restaurant for their well-deserved accolades!"

On March 26, 2025, business owners Teresa and Manuel Paredes of Maya Mexican Restaurant were presented with the 2025 People’s Choice award, celebrating their exceptional Original Michelada. Just a few days later, on March 28, President/CEO Ray Tavakoli of Huckleberry's Breakfast and Lunch received the Judge's Choice award, recognizing their standout cocktail, Gator Juice.

"We are honored to win the Judge’s Choice award and to be a part of this amazing community celebration," said Tavakoli. “Our team worked hard to create a cocktail that reflects the essence of Huckleberry's, and we appreciate everyone who voted for us!”
