ROBERTO RODRIGUEZ ELECTED TO HONORARY COMMANDERS PROGRAM AT VANDENBERG SPACE FORCE BASE

Santa Maria, CA, JANUARY 31, 2025 — Roberto Rodriguez, the Chief Impact Officer for Boys & Girls Clubs of Mid Central Coast, has been nominated to participate in the Vandenberg Space Force Base Honorary Commanders Program effective immediately. This two year program aims to enhance public understanding of VSFB's mission and serve as a platform for exchanging ideas, experiences, and friendships between local community leaders and the Vandenberg military community.

Honorary Commanders are selected every two years from the community to participate in a two-year program. They are paired with commanders of groups, squadrons, and tenant units at VSFB, offering a unique opportunity to learn about local military activities, their economic impact, and various aspects of the national defense system. The program serves as a strategic force multiplier, positioning honorary commanders to actively elevate public awareness for VSFB while fostering reciprocal relationships between Space Force Guardians, Air Force Airmen, and the local community. Through personal interaction, site visits, and attendance at key functions, honorary commanders gain a deeper understanding of the work being done at VSFB and can better explain Space Force programs to their professional and personal networks.

Mr. Rodriguez has served Boys & Girls Clubs of Mid Central Coast since 2000 holding expanding leadership roles. This year, he has been tapped as the new Chief Impact Officer for the organization. In this new capacity, he will focus on driving strategic growth, operational excellence, and community impact. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, he will oversee key areas such as school district relations, facilities management, sports programming, donor cultivation, and the advancement of expansion projects.

Mr. Rodriguez is a former service member in the U.S. Navy. He served from 1997 to 2001 aboard the USS Carl Vinson and participated in Operation Desert Fox and Southern Watch so is keenly aware of the importance of our service members and the impact VSFB makes in our community. Mr. Rodriguez shares this about the opportunity he is undertaking, "I am deeply honored and genuinely excited to participate in the Vandenberg Space Force Base Honorary Commanders Program. As a military veteran myself, I'm thrilled to continue serving my community and the military in this meaningful way." Mr. Rodriguez can be reached at roberto.rodriguez@centralcoastkids.org or by calling 805-354-7426.
