City of Santa Maria Hosts Listening Session for Urban Forest Master Plan

The City of Santa Maria’s Recreation & Parks Department invites community members to attend a public listening session on the proposed Urban Forest Master Plan on Wednesday, November 20th, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at the Elwin Mussell Senior Center, located at 510 East Park Avenue. This session provides an open forum for community input, helping shape a comprehensive vision for Santa Maria’s urban forest.

The Urban Forest Master Plan aims to outline strategies to preserve and expand tree canopy coverage on both public and private properties. Key goals include maintaining existing trees, encouraging new plantings, and enhancing the long-term health of Santa Maria’s green spaces. Participant feedback will help ensure the plan reflects community priorities for a greener and more sustainable city.

Attendees are encouraged to RSVP by November 19th through the Eventbrite link and to complete a brief, confidential pre-survey to share initial feedback. This survey can be accessed online at UFMP Listening Session Pre-Survey or at the event, and will allow residents to provide important insights as the City crafts a plan that reflects community priorities.

Questions may be directed to the Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department Office, (805) 925-0951 extension 2260.
