The Mission of the Santa Maria Historical Society and Museum is to collect, preserve, present and share the history of ALL the people of the Santa Maria Valley. We have displays and artifacts from the beginning of our valley including the Foxen and Ontiveras Ranchos, the founding fathers and the Pacific Coast Railway and Santa Maria Valley Railroad. Sports, dairies, movies and the western life all have exhibits including four saddles. A separate room hosts George Allan Hancock artifacts and history and A. J. Froom's artifacts and local artists. The Japanese families from the valley also have a display. Four times a year the SMV Historical Society sponsors presentations about our valleys history.
