Non-Profit Animal Assistance
The Santa Barbara County (SBC) Animal Care Foundation, is a local all-volunteer countywide 501 c 3 non-profit organization, who plays an instrumental and lifesaving role to actively save the lives of the neediest “rehabilitatable” companion animals within the local County Animal Shelters. Rehabilitatable animals are those animals who are not adoptable when they enter the doors of the shelter and would be euthanized without financial intervention for medical treatment. Northern Santa Barbara County is the area of the County with the greatest need. This is reflected in the number of stray, neglect, abuse and medical emergency cases, as well as an imbalance in the number of homeless animals who are not redeemed from the local shelter. The SBC Animal Care Foundation also invests in their "beyond affordable" spay and neuter assistance for animals of financially challenged families. They value the investment of educating local youth about pet responsibility and improves the quality of life for shelter animals through their special projects. The SBC Animal Care Foundation is unique in it does not have paid staff, a facility or maintenance costs. All leadership and programs are volunteer and directors work from their homes using their own equipment; therefore, donations go to directly benefit local shelter animals in need.
