Kim Mistretta is an attorney with 33 years of practice, mainly assisting businesses with their corporate, contract, intellectual property, and real estate issues and transactions. Offices in Santa Maria and San Luis Obispo.
He is a graduate of USC (1974, Economics) and USC Law Center (1977, JD), started practicing in Los Angeles, and has had offices in San Luis Obispo since 1990 and Santa Maria since 1992.
A majority of his current clients are in various technology areas, typical matters including contracts and issues involving: software development, acquisition, licensing (end-user, reseller, distributor, VAR, OEM, SAAS, etc.), Internet-based delivery of goods/services, websites (development, hosting/co-location, affiliate, advertising, privacy policy, terms of service, domain name issues), registration of trademarks and copyrights, protection and licensing of all other types of intellectual properties, technology transfer, employee/contractor relationships (employment/service contracts, confidentiality/IP ownership, equity compensation, separation).
In the Santa Maria area he is a member of the Chamber of Commerce (since 1992, the former Santa Maria Valley Economic Development Association, the Central Coast Software and Technology Association (Softec), and an early volunteer in the formation of what is now the Santa Maria-based California Space Authority.
